Nicole Gera is the co-founder of Dean Gera Salons, a name well established within hairdressing in Malta. Known for her hands-on approach and strong connection with both clients and her team, her role goes far beyond the salon floor. It’s a mix of creativity, leadership, and constant movement, something that becomes clear the moment you start a conversation with her.

Ask Nicole what she does in one sentence, and you won’t get a straightforward answer. “I just do too much,” she says. Her day moves between people, decisions, and creative direction, rarely fitting into a single title.

That same perspective shapes how she defines success. For Nicole, it isn’t measured in milestones or numbers, but in how the day feels. A sense of calm and balance is what matters most. It’s a quiet definition, but a powerful one.

While the work itself is creative, what stands out most to her are the interactions, the constant meeting of new faces and the relationships built over time. Her most memorable collaboration was with Dior in Paris, where she worked alongside top stylist Pablo Kuemin. Experiences like these continue to shape her creative perspective and approach.

There’s also a lighter side to her. If she had one night on stage? “You’re going to laugh,” she says. “I would sing Angel by Chiara.” It’s a small moment that reflects her ease and sense of humour. Outside of work, she keeps a steady rhythm, staying active, social, and connected. It’s less about switching off and more about maintaining balance.

Nicole is also quick to challenge how the industry is perceived. For her, the industry demands far more than people realise. It’s built on skill, discipline, and constant growth.

Of course, leadership comes with its own challenges. She explains that maintaining a professional boundary with her team can sometimes be difficult. “I love them like I love my family, and that can be difficult to manage. Sharing constructive feedback without hurting their feelings isn’t always easy.” It’s an honest insight into what it takes to lead, not just creatively, but emotionally.

Nicole’s story isn’t defined by one role, but by the ability to move between many, while staying grounded in what matters. And if success is measured by a sense of calm within the day, she seems to have found her own way of getting there.
