Homelessness in Malta is not a distant issue. It is present, growing, and affecting real people in our communities.

Recent figures show that only one in four individuals who apply for housing at YMCA Malta are accepted due to limited capacity. Behind that statistic are men and women facing uncertainty, instability, and the daily stress of not knowing where they will sleep.

This February, we are choosing to respond with action.

A Run with Purpose

Zach Vella, founder of Homebound, is undertaking an extraordinary challenge: running the distance between London and Malta to raise funds for homelessness support. His mission is to help rebuild a drop-in centre and create a new home that will accommodate six residents who need stability, safety, and support.

It is a physical challenge driven by a deeply human cause. Every kilometre represents someone seeking dignity, security, and a second chance.

Our CSR Event: 27th February

On the 27th of February, our Msida salon will host a donation-based hair event in support of this initiative. Clients can book an appointment and receive a professional service in exchange for a contribution. All proceeds will go towards supporting the project led by Homebound in aid of YMCA Malta.

This is more than a salon visit. It is an opportunity to be part of something meaningful.

Why This Matters

Homelessness is not always visible. It can affect individuals experiencing financial hardship, family breakdown, mental health challenges, or unexpected life events. The demand for housing and support services continues to rise, placing immense pressure on organisations working on the front lines.

By supporting this initiative, you are contributing to:

  • Safe spaces for individuals in crisis
  • Access to essential services and support
  • Long-term housing solutions
  • A renewed sense of stability and belonging

Small actions, when combined, create real change.

How You Can Help

  1. Book an appointment on the 27th February and donate.
  2. Contribute directly to the fundraising initiative.
  3. Share the cause and help raise awareness.

Every contribution matters.

Every share extends the reach.

Every appointment booked brings us one step closer to rebuilding a safe space for those who need it most.

Together, we can help turn awareness into action.
