Behind the Scenes at Paris Fashion Week: Nicole Gera’s Experience Backstage

There are moments in a stylist’s career that leave a lasting mark—milestones that are more than just professional achievements, but personal triumphs that reflect years of dedication, artistry, and growth. For Nicole Gera, co-owner and educator at Dean Gera Salons, working backstage at Paris Fashion Week was one of those moments.

Paris Fashion Week isn’t just any fashion event—it’s the pinnacle. A globally recognised celebration of fashion, creativity, and craftsmanship, it stands apart for its distinctive blend of haute couture and ready-to-wear. In fact, Paris is the only city in the world that officially showcases both. Haute couture itself is a protected designation in France, reserved only for fashion houses that meet the highest standards of artistry, technique, and exclusivity.

It’s this unique fusion of legacy and innovation, steeped in cultural identity, that makes Paris Fashion Week the most influential and emblematic fashion event in the world. And being a part of it is no small feat.

Nicole shared her reflections from backstage:

“My time at Paris Fashion Week was nothing short of incredible—an experience I’ll never forget. Working with Pablo Kuemin for the first time was an absolute highlight. Despite the high-pressure environment, Pablo remained calm, focused, and inspiring to be around.

I had the opportunity to work backstage for some amazing brands including Kenzo, Ottolinger, and Paloma Wool. The energy, creativity, and pace were exhilarating. It was such a privilege to be part of the process and to collaborate with such talented stylists and teams.

Truly grateful for the experience—and looking forward to going up again in September.”

This kind of opportunity is more than just a proud moment for Nicole, it’s a celebration for the entire Dean Gera team. At our core, we believe in learning through experience, pushing creative boundaries, and staying connected to the industry’s highest standards. What Nicole brings back from Fashion Week isn’t just inspiration; it’s insight, technique, and a refreshed vision that influences how we teach, create, and grow.

Paris Fashion Week might be over for now, but the impact lives on in our salons and academy. With September just around the corner, we can’t wait to see Nicole take on the fashion capital once again.
